WELCOME!

I create individual and whimsical textiles, wallhangings, bags and figurines.

I create my own version of appliqué. Each piece of fabric is carefully placed to generate a harmony to the whole. I like to use a range of different fabrics married together through machine embroidery. The pieces are then heated and melted, bringing individuality and a special quality. The textiles are sometimes embellished with beads.

I use a variety of different textures and images to inspire my work, and I am interested in the relationship between colours. I find inspiration for my work in many places. Currently I am particularly interested in natural stimuli and cell structures.

I’ve lived in the Devonshire countryside (South West England) all of my life and find inspiration from my surroundings for a lot of my art. My passion for nature and the environment drive me to recycle and I often use reclaimed fabrics and found objects in my artwork.

I am a member of the Devon Artists Network and Tivertion Art Society.

I create one- off textiles art pieces, handbags, bedthrows and individual wall hangings. I am available for commissions.

I have written a book on CD about the techniques I use in my textiles. Please click the image to visit my store.

I started my interest in textiles, at school, as an accident. The other two options for that space in my timetable were French and Geography and neither of those appealed. I'd always been interested in painting and drawing but had been a bit of a tomboy as a kid and didn't like the idea of working with fabric. I considered it too girly.

Pretty soon I fell in love with all things textiles and girly, finding a new medium to express myself through, although I was too terrified to go near a sewing machine for a while!

After finishing school I did a GNVQ in Art and Design and specialised in Textiles. I later took a degree in Costume for the Screen and Stage. I am a graduate of the Arts Institute at Bournemouth and work in my own studio space in Devon. I have been studying the Art of Textiles and Crafts for over 10 years.

I had my first solo textiles exhibition in May 2005 at the Coldharbour Mill in Uffculme, Devon. My second solo exhibition was in September as part of the Nine Days of Art in Devon Event.
