I think so far this has to be one of the craziest things I've ever made. This bag is based on an image I found of Mitochondria. I love cell structures so imagine my happiness when I found an image of one coloured pink and blue.

It's a big favourite of mine at the moment. It took me a long time to love it as I was working on and off on it for about 3 weeks, trying to work out how to make the structure, how to get the fabric to fit around the shape, where the handles were going to go, not to mention the time it always takes me to embroider and bead my textile pieces. The main textile piece is an amalgamation of all the little scraps of fabric I collect, they've been layered up and machine embroidered and then melted once the textile piece was sewn onto the structure. I beaded areas with cute sparkling sequins and pink sequin discs to pick up the light. The handles are covered with the same trimming I've used in the rest of the bag. The lining is a matching lilac. The main textile piece is layered with a decoratively melted sheer organza.

This bag also comes with the first fancy label I've produced (the same one I used for the buttons here on this site).

If you have any questions or would like to see more images and details of this piece don’t hesitate to e- mail me.

I also accept commissions. I love to produce original and whimsical new pieces.
